Understanding Our Pet Service Policies and Requirements
Our policies are listed on the Service Agreement, available in the Pet Parent Portal. This agreement must be digitally signed before service.
Client Responsibilities
To guarantee safety and consistency, pet owners are responsible for supplying:
- For all pets in the home:
- Any preferred treats
- Clear feeding and care instructions
- Emergency contact and veterinary information
- For Each Dog:
- Leash in good condition (not a retractable leash)
- Properly fitted collar (a harness is strongly recommended, especially for high-energy dogs or dogs with a tendency to pull)
- You MUST let us know in advance if your dog has a history of aggression. We reserve the right to refuse service.
- We are not responsible if your dog bites, whether it is a human or another animal. You assume sole responsibility for all medical and other treatment necessary for injury or damage caused by your dog.
Our policies at a glance
Meet-and-Greet
- A complimentary virtual meet-and-greet is required before the first booking for Pet Sitting.
- If you prefer an in-person meet-and-greet, we are happy to arrange it. We can do so as our schedule allows within our central service area (between Cahuita town and Playa Grande).
- We will charge a travel reimbursement fee of $5 / ₡2,500. This applies if you prefer an in-person meet-and-greet outside of our central service area.
- There is also an hourly rate for travel time of $5 / ₡2,500. We are delighted to do the meet-and-greet virtually at no charge.
Deposit/Payment/Cancellation
- Due Dates: Payment for services is due in full on or before your scheduled Dog Walk or Pet Visit.
- Deposits: A 50% deposit is needed to reserve Pet Sitting dates. The Balance is due before Pet Sitting begins.
- Cancellations: Caribbean Canine Care does not issue refunds.
- Dog Walks or Pet Visits must be canceled before noon one business day before the scheduled service. This will help you avoid the $15 cancellation fee.
- Half-Day and Full-Day Pet Sitting must be canceled at least 48 hours before the scheduled service. This will help you avoid a 100% cancellation fee.
- 12 hour Overnight and 24 hour Overnight Pet Sitting must be canceled at least 5 full business days before the scheduled service. This is necessary to avoid a 100% cancellation fee.
- Weekly Pet Sitting must be canceled at least 2 full weeks before the scheduled service. This is necessary to avoid a 100% cancellation fee.
- Cancellation fees are charged regardless of reason. We have blocked out time specifically for your service.
- Clients who cancel often may have service suspended, at our discretion.
Liability/Hold Harmless
- We are not responsible if your dog bites, whether it is a human or another animal. You assume sole responsibility for all medical treatment of humans and animals caused by your dog.
- If your dog tends to pull or chase, it is best to use a harness. We will not be held responsible for your dog escaping a collar.
Dog Aggression
- We are not taking on new dog clients with a history of human aggression. If your dog has dog aggression, we consider each case knowing each dog is different.
- You must disclose aggression toward humans or a bite history in advance of booking.
